AN ORDINANCE ORDERING THE PERFORMANCE OF CERTAIN STREET WORK TO BE DONE IN IN THE CITY OF GILROY, APPROVING AND ADOPTING SPECIFICATIONS THEREFORE AND'AUTHORIZING THE CITY MARSHAL TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT FOR DOING THE SAME. The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Gilroy des ordain as follows, towit: Section 1. The Common Council of the City of Gilroy having on the 6th day of March, 1911, given notice of the following street work to be done, the same is hereby ordered to be done in the City of Gilroy in con- formity with the provisions of Section 16. of the Charter of the City of Gilroy, said work to be performed under the direction of the City Marshal and City Surveyor, and to be done in accordance with the specifications prepared therefore by the City Surveyor, and on file in the office of the City Clerk, which plans and specifications are hereby approved and adopted: That the Test side of Church Street, between Fourth and Fifth Streets, be improved by the construction of a cement or artificial stone sidewalk, and the construction of a wooden curb where the same are not already con- strutted. That the East side of Monterey Street, between Sixth and Martin Streets, be improved by the construction of a cement or artificial stone sidewalk, slid the construction of a cement or artificial stone curb, where the same are not already constructed. That the said work kVor improvements shall be commenced on or before the ..U.� -7:. day of.. ................. ,1911, and completed on or before f:he .!.�:.. day of ....... ...........,1911; that such persons having frontage on the line of the proposed work or improvements, shall have the privilege of doing the work in accordance with the plans and specifications 01; the survey on file in the office of the City Clerk as aforesaid; but if the owner or occupant of any such real estate fail or neglect so to do within the time herein fixed for doing the same, or within any extention of time here- after granted by the Common Council, the City Marshal is hereby directed to (3SOMWARD .Q .3 .JAO ,YOFIJIQ advertise for bills, by notice published one time in a weekly newspaper of the City of Gilroy, fixing a time and place for receiving bids for doing all the work or making all the improvements remaining unfinished, and said City Marshal shall accept the bid of the lowest and best bidder and authorize said bidder to perform said labor or complete said improvements. Section 2. This Ordinance shall take effect upon its pasaage and approval.
