AN ORDINANCE AMEHBING THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF
GILROY BY ADDING THERETO A NEW SECTION RELATIVE' ^TO TIE
ABATEMENT OF FLIES9 PROVIDING FOR THE REMOVAL OF THE
BREEDING PLACES OF FLIES, AND REQUIRING FRUIT AND VEGE-
TABLES DISPLMD FOR SALE, AWD POULTRY, ANIMALS IN CRATES
AND CARCASSES OF ANIMALS BE SCREENED FROM FLIES, AND
THAT BLOOD STAINS ON SIDEWALKS BE REMOVED.
The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Gilroy do ordain
as follows:—
SECTION I.
That the Municipal Code of the City of Gilroy be, and the
same is hereby amended by adding to Article 1 of Part IV. a new
Section to be known as Section 420, to read as follows:—

a. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or
Corporation to permit aril,- manure, garbage, or filth of any kind
which might form a breeding place for *flies to accumulate for
more than one week upon any premises in the City of Gilroy, owned,
used, or controlled by said person, firm or corporation, and all
manure, garbage, or other filth w111ich might form a breeding
place for flies shall be removed at least once a week from the
premises where the same has accumulated, or be placed and kept
in a fly— proof container*
v b. All fruit and vegetables kept or displayed
for sale in the City of Gilroy shall be screened or covered so
l as to keep flies away from said fruit or vegetables.

c, Poui$ry, animals in crates, and the carcasses
of animals left on any sideivalk in the City of Gilroy shall be
screened or covered so as to keep flies away from such poultry,
animals or caloasses of animals.
d. The blood from any animal which has been per-
witted to drip on the sidewalk in front of any place Of business
must be immediately removed by the owners or proprietor of such
place of business so that no flies will gather on such blood.
SECTION 2.
Any person, firm or corporation violating or wilfully non-
complying with the provisions of this ordinance is guilty of a
misdemeanor and upon conuiction thereof shall be punished with a
fine not exceeding One hundred Dollars or imprisonment in the
City Prison not exceeding thirty days, or by both such fine and
imprisonment.
SECTION 3.

This ordinance shall take effect and be in force
days after its passage and approval.
