AN ORDINANCE CALLING AND PROVIDING FOR, AND GIVING NOTICE
OF A SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN THE CITY OF GILROY, COUNTY
OF SANTA CLARA, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, ON TUESDAY THE 15TH DAY
OF JUNE 19159 THE OBJECT BEING TO SUBMIT TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS
OF THE CITY OF GILROY THE QUESTION WHETHER OR NOT THE CITY
SHALL ADVERTIGE FOR SALE AND SELL AND DISPOSE OF ITS ELECTRIC
LIGHTING PLANT AND DISTRIBUTING SYSTEM TO THE HIGHEST AND BEST
BIDDER THEREFOR.
The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Gilroy do
ordain as follows:
Section 1.
A special election is hereby called and ordered to be
held in the City of Gilroy, County of Santa Clara, State Of
California, on Tuesday the 15th day of June 1915, the object
being to submit to the qualified electors of the City of Gilroy
the question whether or not the City of Gilroy shall advertise
for sale and sell m d dispose of its electric lighting plant
and distributing system to the highest and best bidder therefor.
Section B.
The special election hereby called and ordered to be
held shall be held and conducted and the vote thereof received
and canvassed, and the returns thereof made and the result
thereof ascertained and declared as herein provided, and according
to the laws of the State of California governing elections in
the City of Gilroy.
The polls shall be opened at 6 ofclook A. M. on said 15th
day of June 1915, and shall remain open until the hour of 6
o'clock P. M. of said day.

The ballot to be used at such election shall have printed
thereon, in addition to such heading as is provided for by law,
the following**
Shall the City of Gilroy advertise for sale
YES
and sell and dispose of its electric lighting
plant and distributing system to the highest andbeil NO
bidder therefor? l l
Sample ballots containing the above matter required to be
printed thereon shall be supplied to the electors of the City
of Gilroy by the City Clerk.
Section 3.
Any elector of the City of Gilroy Whose name appears
on the register of voters of Santa Clara County on the 31st day
of May 1915 shall be deemed to be a qualified elector of the
City of Gilroy and entitled to vote at said election.
To vote in favor of and thereby authorize the sale of the
electric lighting plant and distributing system of the City Of
Gilroy, the voter shall stamp a cross (X) in the square -:to ` the
right of the word "YES" printed opposite the proposition.
To vote against and thereby refuse to authorize the sale
of said electric lighting plant and distributing system the
voter shall stamp a cross (X) in the square to the right of the
,word "NO" printed opposite the proposition.
section 4.
There shall be one election precinct rithin said
City of Gilroy for the purpose of holding this election, which
shall bey. and the same is hereby designated "Gilroy Election
Precinct ", and the boundaries thereof shall be the boundaries
Of the City of Gi lroy.

The officers to conduct said election are hereby appointed
and designated as follows:—

The poling place for such el(6otion shall be at the
City Hall in the City of Gilroy.
The City Clerk of the City Of Gilroy is hereby directed
to provide all supplies necessary to properly conduct said
election.
section 5.
This Ordinance shall be published once each week in
a newspaper published in Gilroy,for two successive weeks prior
to the 31st duy of May 1915, and the publication of this Ordinance
shall be the notice of said election.
Section 5.
This Ordinance shall take effect Land be in force
immediately.
