AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDI��ANCE NO. 294 OF THE CITY OF
GILROY RELATIVE TO RUBBISH, WASTE MATERIAL, DRY GRASS, WEEDS,
AND FOUL GROWTHS WHICH BECOME A MENACE TO THE PUBLIC SAFETY.
The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Gilroy do here-
by ordain as follows :_
Section I.
That Ordinance No. 294 of the City of Gilroy be amended to
read asfollows : -
It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation
owning or having in his or its control any lot, piece or parcel
of land within the City of Gilroy to permit any rubbish, waste
material, dry grass, weeds, or foul growths to accumulate thereon
and become a menace to the public safety and increase the fire
hazard to property.
Any person, firm or corporation who shall fail to cause all
rubbish, waste material, dry grass, weeds, or foul growths which
become a menace to public safety and increases the fire hazard,
to be removed from any lot, piece or parcel of land within the
City of Gilroy within f hours after having been notified so to
ir7
do by the City Marthal or the Chief of the Fire Department of the
City of Gilroy, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon con-
viction thereof shall be punished by a fine not to exceed One Hundred
Dollars or by imprisonment in the city prison not to exceed thirty
days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
Section II.
This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and
after its passage and approval.
