CALLIFG A SPECIAL ELECTION IN THE CITY OF GILROY, COUNTY OF SANTA
CLARA, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING TVVO MEMBERS
TO THE OFFICE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of Gilroy,
a municipal corporation, as follows:
SECTION 1. That a special election in and for the City of
Cilroy, County of Santa Clara, State of California, be, and the same
is hereby called to be held'in the said City of Gilroy on ~he ~~h r
day of.~ 1937, for the purpose of electing two members to the
office of the Common Council,heretofore declared to be vacant by
said Council Council, of the City of Gilroy.
SECTION ~.
There will be two voting precincts for the purpose of
holding said election, consisting of a consolidation of the regular
election precincts established for holding State or county electio~s
as follows: Consolidated voting precinct "A," comprising State and county
precincts numbers 1, 2 and 3 and the polling place thereof shall be at
the fire station on the northerly side of 5th. Street between Eigel-
berry street and Monterey Street in said City of Gilroy; consolidated
precinct "B," comprising State and county election precincts numbers
4 and 5 and the polling place thereof shall be at the City Hall at
the northeast corner of Monterey Street and Sixth Street in the said
City of Gilroy.
· SECTION 3. The City Clerk is hereby directed to provide all supplies
that may be necessary to properly and lawfully conduct said special
election to fill said offices.
SECTION 4. That the said election and the voting thereat shall be
by ballot, and the ballots therefor shall be prepared, printed and
furnished and distributed as required by the Charter of said City
and by law.

SECTION S~
The City Clerk of the City of Gilroy is hereby
authorized and directed to cause a notice of said special election to
be published in the Gilroy Evening Dispatch, a news paper of
general circulation printed and published in said City of Gilroy, which
publication shall be made and had in said newspaper once a day for at
least yr days, the first publication thereof shall be at least
,
10 days prior to the date such election shall be held. No other
notice of said election need be given.
SECTION 6. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force
immediately'after if passage and approval.
