ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 23 of ARTIOLE IV of ORDINANOE
NO. 355, REGULATING TRAFFIC AND OARE OF VEHICLES UPON THE PUBLIO
STREETS OF THE OITY OF GILROY AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANOES OR
PARTS OF ORDINANOES IN OONFLIOT HEREWITH.
The Mayor and Cammon Oouncil of the ~ity of Gilroy do
ordain as follows:
Section 1. That Section 23 of Article IV of Ordinance
No. 355, be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows,
to-wit:
Section 23. ARTERIAL STOPS. The following streets and
parts of streets and those streets SUbsequently so designated
by resolution, are hereby declared to constitute Arterial
Streets for the p.:l.rpose of this section: . 'h?~.,~ nJ-

secting any Arterial Street shall bring such vehicle to a full
stop at the plaoe where such street meets the nearest property
line of the Arterial Street before entering such Arterial StJ:'eet,
provided the property line is clearly marked or sign posted as
required in this ordinanc~, except at intersections where and
when traffic is subject to stop and go signals or directions.
The Oity Marshal is hereby authorized and required to

place and maintain or cause to be placed and maitained upon

each and every street intersecting an Arterial Street and at
or near the property line of the Arterial Street appropriate

signs upon the street or devices Or marks in the roadway, suoh
signs, devices or marks to bear the word "'STOP" or the words

'''ARTERIAL STOP" in such position and with letters of a size to
be clearly legible from a distance of fifty (50) feet along the
street intersecting the Arterial street.

Secti~ 2. All. ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 3. This Ordinance shall take effect and be
in force from and after its passage and approval.
