DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE SPECIAL ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF
GILROY, COUNTY OF SANTA CLARA, STATE OF C1UGIFORNIA, ON MAY 7TH, 1934,
UPON THE Q,UESTION OF INCURRING THE BONDED INDEBTEDNESS OF SAID CITY
FOR THE OBJECT AND PURPOSE HEREINAFTER E}nTIMERATED.
WHEREAS, on the 2nd day of April. 1934, the Common Council
of the City of Gilroy, County of Santa Clara, State of California, by
ordinance duly passed and published, did call a special election to be
held in said city on the 7th day of May, 1934, for the purpose of
submitting to the qualified voters of said city the proposition: "Shall
the City of Gilroy incur a bonded indebtedness of $29,000000 for the

acquisition, construction and completion of a main cast iron pipe line
to replace the present main steel pipe line conveying water to the City
of Gilroy."
VffiEREAS, due and legal notice of said special election was
given as required by law and by said ordinance; and
WHEREAS, on the 7th day of May, 1934, at the hour of six
o'clock in the morning of said day, the polls were duly and regularly
opened for said special election in said city, and said polls were
continuously kept open for said purpose from the time they were so opened
until seven o'clock in the afternoon of said day, and during said hours
of said 7th day of May, 1934~ a special election was held in said City
of Gilroy, on said proposition, and in accordance with said ordinance; an
WHEREAS, iId1ediately theTeafter, said special election was
regularly and duly canvassed by the duly constituted officers, by
law appointed for that purpose, and the result of said election was

thereafter made and delivered to the Common Council of said city, as
by law and by said ordinance ~equired; and
wTIEREAS, thereafter, to-wit: on the 15th day of May, 1934,
at the hour of 8:30 o'clock in the evening of said day, the said Common
Council did, at the place required by law and by said ordinance, duly
convene and proceed to and did canvass said returns of said special
election so held as aforesaid, and did thereupon declare the result of
said special election as follows, to-wit:
That the number of votes given and cast at said special
election was 852.
That the total number of votes given and cast at said
special election upon said proposition was 825 votes, of which total
number of votes so given and cast, there were given and cast 713 votes
in favor of said proposition and 112 votes against said proposition; and
vnr~EAS, in order to authorize the incurring of indebt-
edness and the issuance of bonds therefor u~oon any proposi tioD submitted
at any special election called and held for that purpose there TIillst be
given and cast for and in favor of said proposition so subTIitted and
voted upon, the votes of at least two-thir~s of all ths voters voting at
~aid special election;

therein stated, was 825 votes, of which total number of votes so given
and cast there were given and cast 713 votes in favor o~.~aid proposition,
and 112 vot~s~gainst said proposition, and that said proposition has
received the requisite two-thirds votes of all votes given and cast at
said special election, and the issuance of bonds of said city for said

proposition, for the objects and purposes therein stated, is authorized
by said election.
NOW, Tl''IEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOL \TED, that bonds 0 f the
City of Gilroy in the sum of Twenty-nine Thousand Dollars shall be issued
for said proposition, being for the aCQuisition, construction and
completion of a main cast iron pipe line to replace the present main
steel pipe line conveying water to the City of Gilroy.
The above and foregoing resolution was duly passed by the Common
Council of the City of Gilroy at a regular adjourned meeting held on the
15th day of May, 1934, by the following vote:
