By motion of Hecker, seconded by Fredrickson and carried
the rollowin~ resolution was adopted:
Charle:,,; W. Schemel, who was a ;\.Iember of tJ18 Common Council
or the City or Gilroy, ,tiell on the 2Rth (la.y of April, 192"),
af~er a brief illness.
Charles W. Schemel was born in Gilroy, on the 10th day of
September, 1873, grew to manhood ill his native city, re~etved
his eLlucation in the looal schools, acquired his husiness tEain-
ing with the Paciric Telephone Company, amI at the time of' his
death was manager of the Gilroy Telephone Company.
He leaves surviving 'him, his mother; his wife, Mabel Lynn
Schemel, a son; C. W. Schemel, Jr. ami a rlaup.;hter; Isabelle.
He was a 'lutiful son, a gootl aUfi lovin,e: husbanll and rather,
a faithrul rrienii ami a.bove all a thorough Christian Gentleman.

As a. Councilnun he was prompt

terest or Gilroy, and in his work he ha~ the conf1.dence of all
our people beca.use or his unquestioned honesty an(l intep.;ri ty.
The memory of his labors with us will inspire us to ~reater ef-
forts ror the improvements an(l a(lvanoernellts of our city. We
will miss him but his work will not be forgotten.
