RESOLUTION NO.l72 is p resented and read;
Motion by Councilman Martin,seconded by Councilman Heiner that
RESOLUTION NO.l72 be adopted.
RESOLUTION NO.l72
l. VrnEREAS,the State of California,under Chapter 20, Statutes of 1946
(First Extra Session), as amended,has appropriated funds for allotment
to provide for financial assistance to Local Agencies,d.'ined as counties,
cities and oounties,or oities,so that they may enga~ in a large public
works construotion program in order to alleviate anemployment;and
2. WHEREAS, the Common Counoil of the City of Gilroy hereinafter des-
ignated "Local Agenoy" desires to apply for an allotment 01' State Aid
for the construction of a public works project under said act;and
3. WHEREAS,an ap,lication to the State Director of Finanoe ror suoh
an allotment has been prepared and presented to this Legilslative
Body for oonsideration; and
4. WHEREAS ,La cal Agenoy has made provis ions for paying for that
portion of the cost of the project not requested as an allotment from
the State;
5. NOW TEEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED,that Local Agency submit the afore-
said application for State Aid for construction of a public works
project to the Director of Finance,requesting an allotment of Five
Thousand and nO/lOO Dollars ($5,000.00), or an allotment of such
amount as may be alloted by the State Allocation Board;
6. BE IT FURTHER RESLOVED,that Local Agenoy hereby certifies thatk
the total estimate or cost to be paid for the construction of the
Improvement of Carmel Street for which Local Agency is making applic-
ation under said Act is Ten Thousand and nO/lOa Dollars ($lO,OOO.OQ);
and
7. BE IT FURTHER RESLOVED, that Local Agenoy hereby requests the State
to pay the State's share of the total actual cost of Construction of
the project for which Local Agency is making application for aid;
8. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,that the purpose of the request W.J.Hanna,
City Engineer of the City of Gilroy,be, and he hereby is,designateq
as the autborized agent of Local Agency,and is hereby authorized and
directed to sign the herein mentioned application of Local Agency
and to submit the same to the State Director of Finance together
with a certified statement of the total estimated cost to be paid
for construction of project herein mentioned and such other inform-
ation as may be required;and said authorized agentis further autho~-
ized and directed as representative of Local Agency to conduct all
negotations and oonclude all arrangements with either the State
Allocation Board or the Director of Finance,inoluding all requests
f~ payment of the State's share of the cost of constructionof the
aforementioned public works project.
