Resolution 197 r RESOLUTION NO. 197. WHEREAS it has been proposed that the City of Gilroy initiate pro~ . ceedings to annex certain territory lying outsid of, but adjacent to and contiguous with, the Corporate Limits of said City, and VlliEHEAS the Planning Co~aission of said City of Gilroy has made a study of said proposal to annex, and has recommended to said Com- mon Council of the City of Gilroy that the herein described terri- tory be a~~exed to the City of Gilroy with The provision that the owners of property situated therein first pay, or arrange to pay, to the City of Gilroy, a sum of money sufficient to pay their pro- rata share of the cost of installation of sewer and water mains, fire hydrants and fire alarm boxes, grading and graveling of unim- proved streets, and the installation of curb and gutter when re- qUired, and 1ffiEREAS the City of Gilroy desires to annex 'said lands to said City in order to provide additional tax revenue with which to im- prove and expand its services to the taxpayer, and by such an- nexation will be enabled to provide the owners and residents of property situated therein with the protection services of its Pol- ice and Fire Departments, street lights, reduced utility and in- surance rates which always follows when annexation to a City is accomplished, and all of the priveleges of its Free Public Library, together with the general benefits of service accruing by being an intregral part of the Municipal Corporation; NO','; l'ILLHEFOHE IT HESOLVED that the Common Council of the City of Gilroy, acting under the authority of Chapter 297, statutes of 1939 and amenmnents therto, proposes to annex to said City as "Uninhabited l'erri tory" under the requirements set forth above, the aforementioned lands, which are more particularly described as follows: "BEGIJ>JNING at the intersection of the southerly line of the Hecker Pass Highway (Bodi'ish Hill Road) with the Viesterly Limit Line of the City of Gilroy and running thence west- erly along the southerly line of Hecker Pass High17ay 84.64 feet to the easterly line of IJiller Avenue; thence along said easterly line 1826.99 feet to the intersection with the southerly line of Third Street; thence easterly along said southerly line 727.48 feet to the westerly line of ~incevalle Street, being also the westerly Corporate Lirait Line of the City of Gilroy; thence northerly along said Limit Line 1637. 90t feet to the point of beginning." BE IT FURTlillR 'RESOLVED that said lands proposed to annex be known as the "First Western Addition", and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the 2nd day of February, 1948 at 8:00 o'clodk P.M. at the City Hall, Gilroy, California, be set as the time and place when and where any persons oV'ming real properj;y wi thin such territory so proposed to b~ anneXed and having any objections to the proposed annex- ation, .ay appear before the Cormnon Council and show written oause why such territory should not be annexed.
