RESOLUTION OF INTr;:NTION TO CALL A SPECIAL EL\I~TION IN
TERRITORY PROPOSED TO BE ANl'JEXED TO THE CITY OF GILROY.
WHEREAS, a notice of intention to circulate a petition
for the changing of the boundaries of the City of Gilroy by
the annexation of certain territory adjacent thereto has been
published by the proponents thereof in the manner required
in the Elections Code of the 3tate of California, and in
accordance \vith the provisions of Article 2, of Chapter 1,
of Part 2, of Division 2 of Title 4 of the Goverrunent Code,
generally referred to and designated as ftAn.."1exation Act of
1913", and which 89.io Notice contains a description of the
territory proposed to be annexed to the City of Gilroy,
said description being the same as that hereinafter contained;
and
WHEREAS, the Cow~on Council of the City of Gilroy has
heretofore consented to the circulation of the said petition
and the taking of annexation proceedings; and
WHEREAS, within ten days of the date of the publishing of
said notice proponents did file a copy of the notice, accompany-
ing statement and an affidavit of the publishing of the notice
with the City Clerk of the City of Gilroy, and did also there-
after and after the expiration of 21 days after the publication
of the notice and statement cause to be circulated among the
voters within the area proposed to be annexed for the submission
of!signatures in the manner prescribed in the Elections Code,
a petition for the annexation of such territory, which petition
conforms to the provisions of the aforementioned Sections of the
Government Code designated and referred to as the "Annexation
Act of 1913-; and
WHEREAS, it ap-r,ears that the said petition has been signed
by not less than one-fourth of the qualified electors residing

within the territory described therein proposed to be annexed
to the said' City of Gilroy as shown by the registration of
voters of the county in whbh such territory is situated;ard
WHEREAS, the provisions of said Annexation Act of 1913 as
set forth in the said Government Code require the City Council
upon receiving the 'Il'i tten petition above referred to, to :P8:SS
a Resolution of intention to call a special election, giving
at least 50 days notice thereof, and submit to the electors
residing in the territory proposed by such petition to be
annexed to such City the question of whether it shall be
annexed to, incorporated in and made a part of such municipal
corporations;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
That the Conllllon Council of the City of Gilroy intends. to
call the special election above referred to; that the boundaries
of the territory so proposed to be annexed to 'said City of
Gilroy are situated in the County of Santa Clara, State of
California, and are more particularly described as follows,
to-wit:
Being a portion of Ranch Lot 16 as shown on
Map No. 7 accompanying the report of the Referees
in the Las Animas Rancho Partition Suit, Action
No. 55'36 had in the Superior Court of the state
of california, in and for the County of Santa
Clara, and being more particularly described as
follows:
Beginning at the point of intersection of the
southerly line of the Bodfish Mill Road (Hecker
Pass Highway) as shown on said Hap with the
easterly line of Miller Avenue and running thence
along the southerly line of the Bodfish Mill
Road westerly 410.00 feet; thence southerly and
parallel to Miller Avenue 773003 feet to the
northerly line of the lands of the San Martin
Vineyards Company; thence parallel to the southerly
line of the Bodfish Mill Road easterly along the
northerly line of the lands of the san Martin
Vineyards Company and the northerly line of the
"CastlevfOod Park, Unit No. lr4 Subdivision to the
easterly line of Mille~~~ce nbrtherlyalong
the easterly line of Miller Avenue 773.03 feet
to the point of beginning, and
CONTAl~ING THEREIN 70276 acres of said Ranch Lot 160
