RESOLUTION NO. 356
WHEREAS, the State of California, through its Department of
Public Works, Division of Highways, proposes the relocation of a
portion of State Highway Route 2 in the County of Santa Clara,
between 0.4 mile south of Thomas Road and Ford Road, and the estab-
lishment of a freeway thereon, and
WHEREAS, a portion of this route lies within the City of
Gilroy, and
WHEREAS, a public meeting on the proposed relocation was
held at the Santa Clara County Office Building in San Jose on June
24, 1955, after due notice of such meeting in the local newspapers,
and at which members of the press were present, and
WHEREAS, no opposition to the proposed location was evident
at said meeting, and
WHEREAS, early determination of said location will be a
benefit to the development of adjacent areas;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Gilroy that the proposed relocation of State Highway Route
2 between 0.4 mlle south of Thomas Road and Ford Road, as presented
at said public meeting, is hereby approved, and that the early adop-
tion of said relocation is considered to be in the public interest,
and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED that the California Highway Commission be
urged to adopt the general route, as presented at said public meet-
ing, at the earliest possible time.
PASSED and ADOPTED the 6th day of September, 1955, by the
