Resolution 373 '- RESOL~~QHuNO.1Ll The Common Council os the City of Gilroy does resolve as follows: WHEREAS, state Assembly Bill No.}lll authorizes the enactment of a county-wide sales tax ordinance by the County Board of Supervisors, and WHEREAS, state Assembly Bill No.}lll makes it possible to have a uniform sales tax on a county-wide basis,and WHEREAS, the Incorporated Cities of' the County of Santa Clara are urgently in need of sales tax revenues to meet the pressing needs of their expanding municipalities,and WHEREAS, the enactment of a sales tax measure would provide these urgently needed funds in the immediate fUture,and WHEREAS, the City of Gilroy has pressing needs similar to all of the municipalities of Santa Clara County,and WHEREAS, it is the intent of the Common Council of' the City of Gilroy that the full proceeds of a one per cent (1%) sales tax under the sales and use tax ordinance now in effect collected within its corporate limits be retained for the expenditure by said City. NOII,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Santa Clara enact a Siles tax ordinance for the County of Santa Clara,and BE IT FtJRrHER RESOLVED that the County Board of Supervisors indicate it.s agreement that the full share of any sales tax collections within the City of Gilroy be retained by the City of Gilroy.
