RESOLUTION DECLARING DESIRABILITY OF ESTABLISHING LIGHTING DISTRICT
IN A DESCRIBED PORTION OF THE CITY OF GILROY, APPOINTING OFFICER TO
MAKE AND FILE WITH THE CITY CLERK OF THE CITY OF GILROY A REPORT IN
'WRITmG.
WHEREAS, a portion of the territory hereinafter described has been
comparatively recently annexed to the City of Gilroy,and has been
subdivided and virtually the entire area has been improved with
dwellings; and,
WHEREAS, the lighting system in the said area is of meager prop-
ortions and is obsolete,and the ~quipment thereof is obsolete and
does not provide an adequate street lighting system;and,
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Gilroy believes that the
said lighting system should be peplaced by an adequate system, and
that the Street Lighting Act of 1919. of the State of California

provides a method or procuring the said lighting system rar the said
area; and, .
WHEREAS, the said street Lighting Act of 1919 provides that the
Cammon Council,prior to the adoption of any resolution of intention,
shall name and designate a Board,Commission,officer or person to make
and file with the City Clerk a report in writing containing the matters
set forth in Section 18041 of the Streets and Highways COde,and the
Council determines that Byron Brown should be designated and named as
the person to make and file said report.
NOWtTHEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED:
That. a lighting district be e stablised in the area hereinafter described,
under the Street Lighting Act of~~1919,and it is hereby ordered that the
said Byron Brown make and file with the City Clerk a report in writing
containing the matters and information set forth in said Section 18041
of the Streets and Highways Code. The said territory hereinbefore
mentioned and which the Common Council believe s should be establised
as said lighting district is described approximately as follows,to__it:
Being all of Tract 239,Renz Addition to the City of Gilroy-,
Tract 971,Renz-Wayland Lane Tract;Tract 1046 a Resubdivision
of a portion of the Loupe Addition (Book tf])u of Maps page 5,
Santa Clara County Records),all in the City of Gilroy,and
being more particularly described as follows:
Beginning at the intersection of the centerline of Welburn
Avenue with the westerly line of Wayland Lane as shown on
the map of Tract 971, and running thence along the south-
w~s'tarly line of Wayland Lane southerly to a point that is
15'0 feet southerly at right angles from the projected south-
erly line of Broadway;thence easterly alilmg a line parallel
with and 150 feet distant at right angles from the southerly
line of Broadway to an intersection with the centerline or
Hanna Street"thence along the centerline of Hanna Street
N.ZOOW.1.97.63 feet to the intersection thereof with the
southeasterly line of Tract 239;thence alODg said south-
easterly line N. '700E. 368.86 feet to the most easterly
corner of said Tract 239;thence northwesterly along the
northeasterly line of Tracts 239 and 1046 to the intersec-
tion thereof with the center line of Welburn Avenue;thence
along the centerline of Welburn Avenue S. 'lOoW. to the point
of beginning.
