Resolution 450 Ii ~ ~ Q 1 .Q 1: I Q IT IT Q. 450 RESOLUTION NO. 450 OF THE COW10N COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY DESIGNATING A CERTAIN DESCRIBED AREA IN SAID CITY AS A PUBLIC OFF-STREET PARKING LOT AND PRESCRIBING REGU- LATIONS THEREFOR AND SIGNS, NOTICES AND OTHER DESIGNATIONS TO BE GIVEN, ERECTED OR OTHERWISE PROVIDED FOR OR IN RELATION TO SAID LOT. WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Gilroy has adopted Ordinance No. 562 entitled "AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISH- ING PUBLIC OFF-STREET PARKING LOTS IN THE CITY OF GILROY: PRE- SCRIBING REGULATIONS RELATIVE TO TRAFI'IC 1,WVEI"rENT AT\TD ?ARKH'G OF VEHICLES THEREIN AND PENALTIES I' OR THE VIOLATIOrrs OF THE PROVISIONS THEREOF~. AND WHEREAS, said City of Gilroy has heretofore ac- quired and now owns those certain premises situated in the City of Gilroy described as follows: Those certain premises situated in the City of Gilroy located along the easterly side of Monterey Street bounded on the south by the American Trust Company premises and on the north by the premises occupied by the J,. C. Perilley Company store and extending from the easterly line of Monterey Street in an easterly direction to the westerly line of the alley running along and immediately west of the westerly boundary line of the right of way of the Southern Pacific Railroad Company. ArID WHEREAS, said Ordinance No. 562 provides that the Common Council shall designate the areas that shall be public off-street parking lots and shall prescribe regulations therefor, and the said Common Council believes that it will be in the public interest and for the public benefit that said above described premises be designated and used as a public off-street parking lot in said City. NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved and it is hereby ordered: FIRST: That the said area above particularly described be and the same is hereby designated and established as a public off-street parking lot. SECOIID: That the following regulations be and the same are hereby prescribed for the use and control of said public off-street parking lot. Lf;j-Q -1- T 1. Two signs shall be erected and maintained at the Northwest Corner of the Lot. On one sign shall be the following in easily read vlOrds "HUNICIPAL PARYING LOT," and beneath this sign shall be placed and maintained another containing the following "2 EOG~ ?ARKn~G .FROH 8:00 A.H. TO 6:00 P.J1. #l The Common Council does hereby order that no person shall stop, stand or park any vehicle in the said public off-street parking lot between 8:00 A.iI. ahd 6:00 F.J:1. on any day for a period of time longer than tvlO hO'J.rs. 2. At the place of entrance to said lot shall be marked and kept marked on the ravement in large 1ett8rs "ENTRANCE" and at the place of exit there shall be marked on the pavement in similar sized letters "EXIT." Directional signs consisting of arrows paint~d on the pavement shall be provided showing the direction from the said entrance to the exit that traffic upon the lot shall follow: In addition, a directional sign shall be erected at the recess angle of the lot along its easterl:l side having thereon "TO EXIT" with an arrow pointing in the direction traffic shall follow to the exit. At the north end of' the exit there shall be erected and maintained a sign having thereon "NO LEFT HAN"D TURN" plainly visible to those about to leave the lot and at the south end of the said exit another sign having thereon "DO NOT ENTER" plainly visible to those operating vehicles down said alley in a southerly direction. 3. There shall be marked off with white paint upon said lot diagonal or angle park:i.ng spaces for as many cars as can properly be parked at one time. 4. The Chief Administrative officer of the City of Gilroy shall cause the said public off-street lot to be divided into parking spaces as herein required and the signs to be erected and maintained and markings 'nade as herein specified. 5. Until otherwise ordered by the Comnon Council, no charge shall be made for parking vehicles in said public off- -2- r street parking lot.
