ADOPTING AND PUTTING INTO EFFECT AMENDMENTS OF ASSOCIATED CONSULTANTS
RELATING TO POSITION CLASSIFICATION PLAN AND COMPENSATION PLAN SET
FORTH IN REPORT DATED FEBRUARY, 1958
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Gilroy has
heretofore employed Associated Consultants of 988 Market Street,
San Francisco, California, to make a survey of the compensation
schedules of employees and officials of the City of Gilroy and
propose a position classification plan and a compensation plan
and embody the same in a report to the Mayor and Common Council
of the City of Gilroy; and
WHEREAS, the said Associated Consultants have made the
said survey and has made its report dated February, 1958
designated and entitled "City of Gilroy Position Classification
Plan, Compensation Plan and Personnel Ordinance"; and
WHEREAS, the said Common Council has duly examined and
considered the said report and recomendation and believes the
same should be adopted; and
WHEREAS, the said report of said Associated Consultants
includes the recommendation that the position of Director of
Public Works be created, and that also the position of
Administrative Assistant be created, the duties of each to
be as set forth in the supplemental recommendations contained
in said report,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED as follows:
1. That the position of Director of Public Works is
hereby created and established; and that the du~ies of the
said Director of Public Works are to be those heretofore
performed by the Building Inspector and the other duties set
forth in the said report of said Associated Consultants. The

compensation of the said Director of Public Works shall be as
set forth in the said report and as the same may be modified
or supplemented by the Ordinance of the City of Gilroy to be
adopted concurrently with this resolution.
2. The position of Administrative Assistant is hereby
created and established; the duties of which shall be those
formerly performed by the Purchasing Agent, as well as keeplng:j
the City personnel records, acting as Assistant Director of
Civil Defense, and as Deputy City Clerk, and such other duties
as are included in the said report of said Associated Consultants.
The compensation of the said Director of Public Works shall be as
set forth in the said report and as the same may be modified
or supplemented by the Ordinance of the City of Gilroy to be
adopted concurrently with this resolution.
3. That the said report in so far as it includes the
position classification and compensation plan be and the same
is hereby adopted as presented, the same to be effective forth-
with, except that this resolution shall not be effective insofar
as it appertains to the compensation of elected officers of the
City of Gilroy, as such, until the beginning of the term of
office next succeeding the date of adoption of this resolution;
and as to appointive officers, officials and employees of the
city of Gilroy, this resolution shall take effect from and
after the first day of March, 1958. This resolution does not
include that part of the report which includes the proposed
Ordinance providing for salary and wages and fixing: the working
conditions of employees and positions in the City of Gilroy,
all of which shall be adopted through an Ordinance which the Mayor
and Common Council of the City of Gilroy has passed and made

effective concurrently with the adoption of this resolution.
