RESOLUTION NO. 465
RESOLUTION OF COMMON COUNCIL UPON THE DEATH
OF BARNEY BROWN
WHEREAS, BYRON BROWN, died in the City of Gilroy on the

~~ . day of March 1958, and,
WHEREAS, said BYRON BROWN, who was universally known as "
"BARNEY BROWN" to his wide circle of acquaintances and associates,
served as Building Inspector of the City of Gilroy from Feb. l~t
195 0 to Jan~ 6th 1958, when he was forced to resign because
of illness and,
WHEREAS, said, BARNEY BROWN performed the duties of said
Building Inspector with distinction, and always in the Public
interest and without fear or favor, and
WHEREAS, said BARNEY BROWN, served the City of Gilroy in
other capacities whenever called upon and was always in the fore-
front to assist the various organizations to which he belonged
and ever ready to lend a helping hand in numerous group under-
takings in this commu:nity, and his death has left a void not
easily filled, and,
WHEREAS, the passing of one who has whole heartily and
unselfishly devoted himself to the public good and who has been
so active in the community life of this city, should not be per-
mitted to pass without a record or memorial thereof being made
and due recognition given,
Now therefore be it resolved by the Mayor and Common Council
of the City of Gilroy that in 1he illness and death of said BARNEY
BROWN the City of Gilroy has lost the services of an industrious
conscientious and devoted Public Official and the Community at
large, a Public spirited citizen and unselfish worker for the
general welfare of all, and,

Be it further resolved that 8 copy of this resolution duly
engrossed and certified be delivered to Olivina Brown the survi-
ving wife of said BYRON BROWN.
Passed and adopted this 21st day of April, 1958, by the
