RESOLUTION NO. 468
RESOLUTION AND ORDER CANVASSING VOTES CAST AT REGULAR
MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD MAY 5, 1958, AND DETERMINING TOTAL
VOTE, AND DECLARING ELECTION OF OFFICERS OF THE CITY OF
GILROY.
WHEREAS, the regular municipal election for the municipal
offices of the City of Gilroy was held in said City of Gilroy
on the 5 day of May, 1958, in accordance with the provisions
of the City Charter, and pursuant to law and to due and legal
notice given of said election: and
WHEREAS, all of the absentee ballots applied for at said
election have been voted and returned to the City Clerk: and
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Gilroy has on
the 6 day of May, 1958, canvassed the returns of said election
including the absentee votes, and found and ascertained that
the total number of votes, excluding absentee votes, cast at
said election was 1516
that the number of votes cast at
princinct "A" was 391 . that the number of votes cast at

Princinct "B" was 481 . that the number of votes cast at
,
Princinct "c" was 341 that the number of votes cast at
Princinct "0" was 291 . and
,
WHEREAS, the said Common Council of the City of Gilroy did
proceed to also canvass the absentee ballots cast at said
election and found and ascertained that the total number of
absentee ballots issued for said election was 10 and that
all of said absentee ballots have been returned or received: that
the total number of absentee votes cast at said election was
10 : that the total number of votes, including absentee
votes, was 1526, and that the following named persons received
the total number of votes, exclusive of absentee votes, the
number of absentee votes, and the total number of votes set
opposite their respective names for the respective offices
for which they were candidates, to wit:

and,
WHEREAS, it appears from the said canvass and the records
of said Common Council of the City of Gilroy that all of the
above candidates were duly nominated to the respective offices
for which they were candidates, and that the said SIG SANCHEZ
received the majority of all votes cast for the office
of Mayor of the City of Gilroy: that G. B. CARR received the
majority of all votes cast for the office of City Clerk of the
City of Gilroy: that H. R. ESCHENBURG received the majority of
all votes cast for the office of City Treasurer of the city
of Gilroy: that HAROLD STURLA received the majority of all
votes cast for the office of City Marshall of the City of Gilroy,
and that CARL W. PATE, CHARLES GALLQ, COURTLAND M. RUSH, KENNETH
L. PETERSEN, WILFORD E. JORDAN, and EVERETT WENTWORTH received the
majority of all votes cast for the offices of Councilmen of the
Ci~y of Gilroy.
It is, therefore, ORDERED and DECLARED that SIG SANCHEZ
has been and is duly elected to the office of Mayor of the City
of Gilroy: that G. B. CARR has been and is duly elected to the
office of City Clerk of the City of Gilroy: that H. R. ESCHENBURG
has been and is duly elected to the office of City Treasurer
of the City of Gilroy: that HAROLD STURLA'has been and is duly
elected to the office of City Marshall of the City of Gilroy,
and that CARL W. PATE, CHARLES GALLO, COURTLAND M. RUSH, KENNETH
L. PETERSEN, WILFORD E. JORDAN AND EVERETT WENTWORTH have been
and are duly elected to the offices of Councilmen of the City
of Gilroy.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:
That the City Clerk of the City of Gilroy immediately sign
and deliver to each person so elected a certificate of election.
