RESOLUTION NO. 489
RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GILROY, RELATING TO THE DEATH OF IRVINE OTTO
WHEREAS, IRVINE OTTO, died in the City of Gilroy on
the 9th day of November, 1958, and
WHEREAS, the said IRVINE OTTO at the time of his death
was the Superintendent of the Water Department of the City of
Gilroy, and had served in that capacity for a considerable
number of years, and prior to that he was an employee of the
Water Department, and had served the City of Gilroy for a period
in excess of thirty years, and
WHEREAS, the said IRVINE OTTO, during his long period
of service, always performed his duties conscientiously, honestly,
and with the best interests of the City of Gilroy at heart, and
so
WHEREAS, the passing of one who ha~deligently devoted
public
himself to the duties of his/office and employment should not be
permitted to pass without a permanent record or memorial thereof
being made and due recognition given;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Common
Council of the City of Gilroy that, in the death of said IRVINE
OTTO, the City of Gilroy has lost the services of an industrious,
conscientious, and deligent public official and the community
at large a good, public spirited citizen which the community can
ill afford to be without, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution,
duly certified by the City Clerk, be delivered to MABEL OTTO,
the surviving wife of said IRVINE OTTO.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 1st day of December, 1958~ by
the following vote:
