Resolution 564 RESOLUTION NO. 564 RESOLUTION AND ORDER CANVASSING VOTES CAST AT REGULAR MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD APRIL 12, 1960 AND DETERMINING TOTAL VOTE AND DECLARING ELECTION OF OFFICERS OF THE CITY OF GILROY. WHEREAS, the speci a L municipal election for the elective municipal offices of the City of Gilroy was held in said City of Gilroy on the 12th day of April, 1960, in accordance with the provisions of the Charter of the City of Gilroy approved bX the State Legislature on February 3, 1960, and filed February 8, 1960, in the office of Secretary of State and pursuant to law and to due and legal notice given of the said election; and WHEREAS, all of the absentee ballots applied for at said election have been voted and returned to the City Clerk. and WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Gilroy has on the 19th day of April, 1960 canvassed the returns of said election, including absentee votes, and found and ascertained that the total number of votes, excluding absentee votes, cast at said election was 1212, that the number of votes cast at Precinct "A" was 305; that the number of votes cast at Precinct "B" was 221; that the number of votes cast at Precinct "C" was 243; that the number of votes cast at Precinct "D" was 189; that the number of votes cast at Precinct "E" was 254; and WHEREAS, the said Common Council of the City of Gilroy did proceed to also canvass the absentee ballots cast at said election and found and ascertained that the total number of absentee ballots issued for said election was 19, and that all of said absentee ballots have been returned or received; that the total number of absentee votes cast at said election was 19; that the total number of votes, including absentee votes, was 1231, and that the the following named persons received the total number of votes, exclusive of absentee votes, the number of absentee votes, and the total number of votes set oppo- site their respective names for the respective offices for which they were candidates, to wit: -1- 6-~;1/ Total Vote Excluding Absentee Total Votes AlaSentee Vote Vote Cast For Mayor: SIG SANCHEZ 976 14 990 (Write-ins) Scattering 17 0 17 For Members of the Council NORMAN B. CLARK 682 10 692 (Write-ins) Scattering 1 and, WHEREAS, it appears from the said canvass and the records of said Council of the City of Gilroy that all of the above candi- dates were duly nominated to the respective offices for which they were candidates,and that the said SIG SANCHEZ received the majority of all votes cast for the office of Mayor of the City of Gilroy; that NORMAN B. GOODRICH, KENNETH L. PETERSEN, EVERETT WENTWORTH, CARL W. PATE, WILFORD E. JORDAN and COURTLAND M. RUSH received the majority of all votes cast for the offices of Councilmen of the City of Gilroy; That the said NORMAN B. GOODRICH, KENNETH L. PETERSEN and EVERETT WENTWORTH were the three Councilmen receiving the highest number of votes, and the said CARL W. PATE, WILFORD E. JORDAN and COURTLAND M. RUSH were the councilmen receiving the lowest number of votes; IT IS, THEREFORE, ORDERED AND DECLARED that SIG SANCHEZhas been and is duly elected to the office of Mayor of the City of Gilroy; - 2 - that NORMAN B. GOODRICH, KENNETH L. PETERSEN and EVERETT WENTWORTH have been and are duly elected to the officesof Councilmen of the City of Gilroy for the term expiring on the 2nd Tuesday of April, 1963, and CARL W. PATE, WILFORD E. JORDAN and COURTLAND M. RUSH have been and are duly elected to the offices of Councilmen of the City of Gilroy for the term expiring on the 2nd Tuesday of April, 1961; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk of the City of Gilroy immediately sign and deliver to each person so elected a certificate of election.
