RESOLUTION NO" 579
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE Crrry OF GILROY STATING PREFERENCE
FOR ROUTE "G11 (CENTRAL VALLEY ROUTE) FOR THE PROPOSED FREEWAY THROUGH
THE GILROY AREAo
WHEREAS, the DivIsion of Highways has made studies for the extension of
a freeway which will pass through the Gilroy area and as a result of those
studies has developed a map showing several proposed routes for this freeway
and has prepared a chart showing cost to benefit ratios on each of these
proposed routes, and
WHEREAS~ this map and chart were publicly displayed in the Wheeler
Auditorium on Wednesday, July 6, 1960, for the benefit of the general public
and the Gilroy City Council~ and
WHEREAS$ the Council and the Gilroy Planning Commission have car~
fully ~onsidered the said proposed routes shown upon the map~ and the chart
showing the cost to benefit ratios, and
WHEREAS, as a result of this consideration the Council has determined
that Route "GII (Central Valley Route) is much the more favorable route for
the proper and orderly development of the Gilroy area and is in accord with
the City's master plan for land use and traffic patterns,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED and it [s hereby ordered that the City
Council urge the DivIsion of Highways to select Route "G" as shown upon
said map as the location for the proposed freeway through the Gilroy area.
