RESOLUTION NO. 80 - 5
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY ENDORSING
ASSOCIATION OF BAY AREA GOVERNMENTS POPULATION PROJECTIONS FOR
THE BAY AREA.
WHEREAS, the General Assembly of the Association of Bay
Area Governments has adopted population projections for the Bay
Area and its counties and sewerage units; and
WHEREAS, ABAG'S PROJECTIONS '79 is a consistently prepared
set of regional projections detailing the growth and distribution
of population, housing and employment throughout the Bay Area; and
WHEREAS, the projections alone are not policy targets or
goals, but are used to identify regional problems, needs and issues,
and to formulate regional policies; and
WHEREAS, the projections are evaluated and updated on at
least an annual basis in consultation with local governments; and
WHEREAS, ABAG General Assembly Resolution 4-79 details the
limitations and uses of the projections; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Gilroy has reviewed
PROJECTIONS '79, ABAG'S Guidelines for the use of Projections, and
the subregional study area projections presented for information only
in PROJECTIONS '79;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Gilroy endorses PROJECTIONS '79 for planning use, subject to
provisions of the guidelines adopted by ABAG to protect the interests
of local governments; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
forwarded to ABAG.
