RESOLUTION NO. 80- 82
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GILROY ACKNOWLEDGING EXECUTION OF JOINT EXERCISE
OF Po\-JERS AGREEHENT AND COOPERATION AGREEMENT
PURSUANT TO TITLE I OF THE HOUSING AND COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT ACT OF 1974, AS AMENDED.
WHEREAS, in 1974 the United States Congress enacted the
Housing and Conununity Development Act of 197Lj., herein called Act;
and
'~EREAS. Title I of the Act allows Urban Counties to
receive Conununity Development Block ~rants where such Counties
enter into a Joint Exercise of Powers Agreement 1 and Cooperation
Agreement with non-entitlement cities to qualify as an Urban
County applicant under the Act; and
t~IEREAS, the City of Gilroy wishes to enter into such
an agreement with the County of Santa Clara to qualify such
County as an Urban County and to receive Housing and Conununity
Development funds thereby;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council
of the City of ~i1roy approves the Joint Exercise of Powers
Agreement and Cooperative Agreement on behalf of the City of
Gilroy.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor is authorized
to execute said Joint Exercise of Powers and Cooperative Agreement
on behalf of the City of Gilroy.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a reqular meeting of the City
Council of the City of Gilroy this 2nd of September, 1980, by
the following vote:
AYES: COUNCILMEHBERS: CUNNINGHAM, HUGHAN, LINK, PATE,
TAYLOR and GOODRICH.
NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: ~one
ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: ALBERT
