RESOLUTION NO. 77-17
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY APPROVING
THE APPLICATION FOR HISTORIC PPESERVATION GRANTS-IN-AID FUNDS
FOR GILROY OLD CITY HALL PROJECT.
WHEREAS, the Congress under Public Law 89-665 has authori-
zed the establishment of a National Historic Preservation Grants-
in-Aid Program, providing matching funds to the State of Ca1if-
ornia and its political subdivisions for history nreservation,
survey, planning, development and acquisition projects, and
WHEREAS, the State Department of Parks and Recreation is
responsible for the administration of the program within the
state, setting up necessary rules and procedures governing app1i-
cation by local agencies under the program; and
WHEREAS, said adopted procedures established by the State
Department of Parks and Recreation require the applicant to cer-
tify by resolution the approval of applications and the availa-
bility of local matching funds prior to submission of said app1i-
cations to the state;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT P~SOLVED that the City Council
hereby:
1. Approves the filing of an application for the
National Historic Preservation Grants-In-Aid
assistance for Gilroy Old City Hall project;
and
2. Appoints the City Administrator as agent of the
City to conduct all negotiations, execute and
submit all documents, including but not limited
to applications, agreements, billing statements,
and so on that may be necessary for the comple-
tion of the aforementioned project.
