RESOLUTION NO. 77-33
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY CONCURRING
IN PRINCIPLE WITH THE SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT PLAN FOR THE COUNTY OF
SANTA CLARA.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY,
AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, the Nejedly-Z'Berg-Dil1s Solid Waste Management
and Resource Recovery Act, of 1972 (hereinafter referred to as the
Act) requires each County in cooperation with the affected local
jurisdictions to prepare a comprehensive, coordinated Plan for the
management of solid wastes, and
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Clara has participated in the
preparation of the Solid Waste Management Plan for Santa Clara
County through its elected officials (The Planning Policy Committee
for Santa Clara County and the Board of Supervisors) and staff (The
Solid Waste Management Study Technical Advisory Committee) over the
past several years, and
WHEREAS, the City of Gilroy recognizes the need for a
coordinated plan to guide future solid waste management activities,
and
~mEREAS, participation by the affected local jurisdictions
in future solid waste management planning will be for the purpose
of enhancing the betterment of existing systems and to derive op-
timum benefits from the recovery and reuse of certain wastes, and
WHEREAS, the City of Gilroy has reviewed said Plan in
light of the provisions of the Resource Recovery Act of 1972 and
the needs of the citizens of Gilroy.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council that
the City of Gilroy concurs in principle with the Solid Waste Manage-

ment plan for Santa Clara County, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council appoints itself
as the enforcement agency of the Solid Waste Management Plan as said
Plan affects the City of Gilroy, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is directed to
forward a certified copy of this resolution to the Board of Sunervisors
of Santa Clara County.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Gilroy this 2nd day of May, 1977 by the following vote:
