RESOLUTION NO. 1790
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF GILROY REQUESTING THE LOCAL
AREA FORMATION COMMISSION TO REMOVE ALL LANDS WITHIN
THE CITY OF GILROY FROM THE LaMA PRIETA SOILS CONSER-
VATION DISTRICT.
WHEREAS, approximately 2,515.411 acres of the City of Gil roy
total corporate area of 3,475.411 acres is within the Loma Prieta
Soils Conservation District; and
WHEREAS, the services provided by the District are primarily
oriented to agricultural lands and operations; and
WHEREAS, it would be more equitable to all city residents to
remove the entire City from the District and to enter into service
agreements with the District at such times as the City may require
their services; and
WHEREAS, the Local Area Formation Commission of the County
of Santa Clara is empowered to initiate and undertake such a removal
procedure.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
Gilroy to hereby respectfully petition the Local Area Formation
Commission to undertake those procedures establ ished by law to remove
the entire City of Gilroy from the Loma Prieta Soils Conservation
District.
