RESOLUTION NO. 1826
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY APPROVING THE
APPLICATION FOR 19/4 STATE GRANT FUNDS FOR EASTSIDE PARK PROJECT.
WHEREASJ the people of the State of California have enacted the
"State Beach, Park~ Recreational~ and Historical Facilities Bond Act of 1974 which
provides funds to the State of California and its political subdivisions for ac-
quiring lands and developing facilities for public outdoor recreation and histori-
cal purposes; and
WHEREASJ the State Department of Parks and Recreation has been
delegated the responsibility for the administration of the program within the
State~ setting up necessary procedures governing application by local agencies
under the program; and
WHEREASJ said procedures establ i shed by the State Department of
Parks and Recreation require the applicant to certify by resolution the approval
of applications prior to submission of said applications to the State; and
WHEREASJ satd applications contain assurances that the applicant
must comply with; and
WHEREASJ said procedures further require the applicant to possess
an adopted plan showing parks and recreation lands and facilities, existing and
proposed; and
WHEREASJ the City's general plan was first adopted by the City
Council on June 17~ 1968; and
WHEREAS" the proposed Eastsi de Park project appears on the City I s
plan~ is consistent with the California Outdoor Recreation Resources Plan and is
in conformity with the State Environmental Goals and Policy Report; and
WHEREASJ the project must be compatible with the land use plans of
those jurisdictions immediately surrounding the project;
NOWJ THEREFOREJ BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council hereby:
1. Approves the filing of an application for 1974 State Grant
assistance; and

2. Certifies that said agency understands the assurances in the
application; and
3. Certifies that said agency has or will have sufficient funds
to operate and maintain the project; and
4. Certifies that said agency meets the planning requirements and
that the project is compatible with the land use plans of
those jurisdictions immediately surrounding the project; and
5. Appoints the City Administrator as agent of the City to conduct
all negotiations, execute and submit all documents including
but not limited to applications, agreements, amendments, pay-
ment requests, and so on which may be necessary for the com-
pletion of the aforementioned project.
