Resolution 1760 RESOLUTION NO. 1760 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY RELATING TO CALIFORNIA TRAFFIC SAFETY WEEK. WHEREAS, traffic accidents take an unacceptable toll in human life, injury and property damage; and WHEREAS, traffic accidents will continue to increase in propor- tion to the number of motor vehicles registered, dirvers licensed and motor miles traveled; and WHEREAS, traffic accidents are caused by driver inattention, discourtesy and loss of self-control; and WHEREAS, accident prevention must start with individual drivers accepting their responsibility to drive attentively and defensively, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council of the City of Gilroy hereby declares September 24-30th, 1973 as Traffic Safety Week and requests that every citizen rededicate himself to driving, walking and bicycling safely.
