Resolution 1776
RESOLUTION NO. 1776
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY ESTABLISHING A CITY PROGRAM
FOR THE CONSERVATION OF ENERGY AND URGING LOCAL RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES TO
UNDERTAKE SIMILAR EFFORTS.
WHEREAS, THIS great nation is presently faced with an energy
crisis, and;
WHEREAS, the People of the country have always retained the
ability and flexibility to meet such challenges, and;
WHEREAS, governmental and private economists estimate that
savings in current energy consumptions in upwards ~0 25% can be reasonably
accomplished and;
WHEREAS, such reduction will benefit local residents by reduc-
ing their utility bills in the same ratio.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Gilroy City Council
hereby requests all City Employees and respectively requests all local
residents and businesses to turn off, turn down and step lightly on the
gas pedal in an effort to reduce local energy consumptions. It is further
hoped that such voluntary efforts will preclude the need for any future
mandatory rationing of fuels.
