RESOLUTION NO. 1642
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY ADOPTING
THE UNIFORM MECHANICAL CODE 1970 EDITION.
WHEREAS, Section 6.1 of the Gi lroy City Codes, as amended by Ordinance
No. 871, provides that the latest edition of the Uniform Mechanical Code
shall be submitted to the Council to become effective within the City upon
approval by resolution subject to possible modifications and amendments;
and
WHEREAS, the 1970 edition of said Code has been submitted with modifica-
tions and amendments by the Senior Building Inspector of the City of Gilroy
for approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY DOES RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS:
That the Uniform Mechanical Code 1970 Edition, shall apply to construc-
tion of all kinds in the City of Gilroy. This code shall be amended as
follows:
I. VIOLATIONS AND PENALTI ES
If any contractor, sub-contractor, individual, or firm is found
to be working without a permit where a permit is required, the
fol lowing conditions shall apply:
I. There shall be an automatic shut-down of the job.
2. No work shall be permitted to commence unti 1 a permit has
been issued.
3. Permittee shall be subject to a twenty-five dollar ($25.00)
penalty plus a double permit fee.
4. Permit may not be issued within 48 hours of the stop work order.
5. No further inspection of any of the work shall be made until
permits are in order.
6. The Senior Bui lding Inspector shall have the right to issue
a variance to 4 and 5 above should sufficient justification
exist. His decision shall be final.

II. PER-HIT FEES
Permit fees under this Uniform Mechanical Code shall be computed
and establ ished as thirty per cent (30%) of the Building Code per-
mit fee.
That a certified copy of this resolution be kept on file in the office of
the City Engineer for examination by interested persons.
That th~ resolution shall become effective thirty (30) days after its
adoption.

Gilroy
