RESOLUTION NO. 1577
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY
OF INTENTION TO ORDER A CHANGE AND MODIFICATION
OF GRADE ON MESA ROAD.
WHEREAS, a Planned Unit Development is to be constructed on
Assessor's Parcel No. 803-31-29 on the west side of Mesa Road
north of Gavilan College, involving extensive grading of said
property along Mesa Road, and
WHEREAS, by reason of said regrading and improvements, it
will be necessary to change the grade of Mesa Road to provide
adequate drainage, proper sight distance with intersecting roads
and driveways, and improved aesthetic development of the area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Gilroy that said City Council elects to proceed under
the provisions of Part 1 of Division 9 of the Street and Highway
Code of the State of California, and intends to change and modify
the grade of Mesa Road in the area immediately north of Gavilan
College to the following extent and in the following manner, to
wit:
The construction of new pavement on Mesa Road and the
lowering of the street grade as follows:
Beginning at a point on the Mesa Road centerline 50 feet
southerly of a monument in the centerline of Mesa Road on
the easterly prolongation of the southerly line of the Mesa
Road Ranch shown as Assessor's Map Book parcel 803-31-29;
and being station 4+50 as shown on the plans of the Mesa
Road Improvements on file in The Office of the City
Engineer at 7370 Church Street, Gilroy, California;
Thence along the centerline of Mesa Road the following
distances with the following average grade changes:
Northerly 200 feet to station 6+50 with an average lowering
of grade of 1.2 feet more or less;
Northerly 300 feet to station 9+50 with an average lowering
of grade of 2.0 feet more or less;
Northerly 500 feet to station 14+50 with an average
lowering of grade of 2.8 feet more or less;

Northerly 225 feet to station 16+75 with an average lowering
of grade of 2.0 feet more or less to the beginning of a
250 foot long vertical curve;
Thence northerly 250 feet through a 250 foot vertical curve
with an average lowering of 2.5 feet to station 19+25;
Thence northerly 25 feet to station 19+50 with an average
lowering of 0.3 feet more or less to the end of the grade
change.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 21st day of June, 1971, by the
following vote:
