A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF GILROY ALLOCATING THE VARIOUS EMPLOYEE CLASSIFICA-
TIONS IN THE CITY SERVICE TO APPROPRIATE RANGES AND AMENDMENT OF THE PERSONNEL
RULES AND REGULATIONS TO PROVIDE CERTAIN BENEFITS.
WHEREAS, it has been determined by meeting and conferring in good faith
with the various employee groups and the Council- appointed conferring team and
the Personnel Commission's review, that the cost of living has increased and
certain benefits should be provided; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Council to maintain city salaries on
a cost of living level and provide certain employee benefits.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the city employees shall be granted
the following benefits.
1. Effective July 1, 1971
1. Salary adjustments as listed on Schedule A which shall be
attached hereto and become a part of the resolution.
2. Personnel Rules and Regulations, Section VI B, ''Workman's
Compensation '', (second paragraph) :
An employee's sick leave will be affected when he is.injured
on the job and is unable to work as follows:
a. Public Safety, as defined by P.E.R.S. (Public Employees'
Retirement System), employees shall be granted sick leave
as per P.E.R.S. provisions.
b. All other employees will be allowed thirty days sick leave
before any deductions from accumulated sick leave, if any.
c. All employees will be required to deposit their State Com-
pensation check with the City to receive full pay for the
above benefits.
d. Upon completion of the above benefits, the employee can receive
either the State Compensation check or full pay with deductions
from sick leave credit, if any, in lieu of the State Compensa-
tion check.

3. Medical Insurance:
The improved medical, hospital, and major medical insurance
coverage, as proposed by California - Western States Life Insurance
Company is hereby granted.
4. Social Security Benefits Study:
During the 1971 -72 fiscal year, a committee composed of one (1)
member from each employees' association and one (1) member of
the City Administrator's Office will study and recommend to the
City, advantages of the existing Social Security benefit plan
and an incentive pay program.
