RESOLUTION NO. 1438
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY PROHIBITING PARKING ON
THE WEST SIDE OF MONTEREY STREET FOR A DISTANCE OF 250 FEET NORTH AND
505 FEET SOUTH OF ITS INTERSECTION WITH FIRST STREET IN THE CITY OF
GILROY.
WHEREAS, many accidents have occurred in recent months at the inter-
section of Monterey and First Streets in the City of Gilroy; and
WHEREAS, a traffic study and review by the State Division of Highways
indicates that a left turn lane on Monterey Street south of its intersection
with First Street will help to correct this dangerous condition and is warranted
for installation by the State, and
WHEREAS, parking on the west side of Monterey Street must be prohibited
for a distance of 250 feet North and 505 feet South of its intersection with
First Street in order to provide the space necessary for the installation of
said left turn lane by the State.
NOW, THEREFORE~ THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY DOES RESOLVE AS
FOLLOWS:
That all parking is prohibited on the westerly side of Monterey Street
for a distance of 250 feet North and 505 feet South of its intersection with
Firs t Street, and
That a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the State Division of
Highways.
