RESOLUTION NO. 1444
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY AMENDING
SECTION I I I, F, OF THE PERSONNEL RULES AND REGULATIONS REGARDING
NEW EMPLOYEE PROBATION PERIOD.
WHEREAS, Section I I I, F, of the Personnel Rules and Regulations sets forth
present probationary period for new employees as six (6) months except for rated
Police Personnel which is one (1) year; and
WHEREAS, the Fire Department has requested a one (1) year probationary
period to properly evaluate employee performance; and
WHEREAS, the Personnel Commission at their regular meeting of February 26,
1970, did study this probationary request and did properly recommend to the City
Council for its acceptance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Gilroy Personnel Rules and
Regulations shall be amended to read as follows:
SECTION I I I, F (Paragraph 2): Any appointment made from an eligible 1 ist
shall be subject to a probationary period of six months except the Fire and Pol ice
rated personnel which shall be twelve months, subject to the appropriate action
by a Department Head as set forth hereinafter; provided, however, that upon recom-
mendation of the appointing authority, the Personnel Commission may extend the
probationary period for any particular classification for an additional six (6)
months period.
