RESOLUTION NO. 1451
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY
AMENDING SECTION 111, I, OF THE PERSONNEL RULES AND
REGULATIONS REGARDING PROCEDURE WHEN A PROMOTED EMP-
LOYEE DOES NOT SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE HIS PROBATION-
ARY PERIOD.
WHEREAS, Section 111, d, of the Personnel Rules remains silent on the pro-
cedure to follow when a promoted employee does not successfully complete
his probationary period, and,
WHEREAS, The Personnel Commission at their meetings of February 26, 1970
and March 26, 1970 did dIscuss and did properly r~commend an appropriate
procedure to the City Council for its acceptance.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Gilroy Personnel Rules and
Regulations be amended as follows:
Sect ion 111, 1 (I nsert after paragraph 2)
When an employee who has been appointed on a promotional basis
does not satisfactorily complete his probationary period, he
shall be reinstated to his previous classification, salary range
and step, unless his performance justifies termination as out-
1 ined in other sections of these Rules & Regulations. If the
position in the previous classification from which the employee
had been promoted has been filled, then the person filling that
position must return to the appropriate eligibi lity list and wait
for the next open position for appointment.
