RESOLUTION NO. ~6
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF GILROY ALLOCATING THE
VARIOUS EMPLOYEE CLASSIFICATIONS IN THE CITY SERVICE
TO APPROPRIATE RANGES AND CERTAIN OTHER FRINGE BENEFITS.
WHEREAS, it has been determined by meeting and conferring in good faith
with the vari~us employee groups and the Council-appointed conferring team and
the Personnel Commissions review, that the prevailing wage rates and cost of
living have increased; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Council to maintain city salaries on a
relatively competitive level with the salaries paid to public and private
employees in the general area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the city employees Shall be granted
the following benefits.
A. Effective July I. 1970
I. Salary adjustments as listed on Schedule A which shall be attached
hereto and become a part of the Resolution.
2. Stand by Time
(a) Pollee Department Personnel:
At the Police Chief's (or his designated Staff's) option Police
Personnel required to Stand-by shall be allowed one or the
other following alternatives:
(I) An employee required to stand-by at home shall be reimbursed
at the rate of one-half (l) his regular hourly pay.
(2) Or the employee shall be called back to duty and be reim-
bursed at the rate of his regular (straight time) hourly pay.
(b) Department of Public Works Personnel:
Employees required to stand-by during weekends, (4:00 P.M.
Fridays to 7:30 A.M. Mondays) shall be compensated for such
actual stand-by time on the basis of twelve (12) hours for
weekend.
3. Clothing Allowances:
The following adjustments in ~lothing allowances shalt be granted to
affected Police and Fire Personnel.
(a) Pollee:
Increase to $144.00 per year, ($12.00 per month).

(b) Increase to $120.00 per year, ($10.00 per month).
4. Mandatory Training Tiem, Fire Department Personnel.
Employees required to attend mandatory courses and training
sessions during off-duty hours, shall be compensated for all
such time on a straight time basis.
5. Insurance Study:
During the 1970-71, fiscal year, a committee composed of one (I)
member from each employees' association and one (I) member of the
City Administrators Office will be established to study and to
recommend to the City, improvements to the existing employee
insurance benefit plans.
