Resolution 1524 RESOLUTION NO. 1524 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF GILROY AMENDING AND IMPLEMENTING THE CLASSIFICATION PLAN FOR THE CITY OF GILROY. WHEREAS, the City does recognize the need to establish classifications to set forth the duties and specifications for each job for the various departments; and WHEREAS, the present classifications, established in February, 1958, were in need of review and updating; and WHEREAS, Mr. Charles Shean, consultant, did determine, through the process of written report and interviews, the present duties of each employee and did up- date the existing classifications and did suggest certain new classifications at certain salaries which were reviewed and amended by the administrative staff and the Personnel Commission; and WHEREAS, a committee of the Council consisting of Councilmen Kennedy, Pate, and Wentworth did meet to study the proposed classification plan and did make cer- tain recommendations for the adoption and implementation of said classification plan. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED That the classification plan for the City of Gilroy be amended and established as follows: 1. Effective date shall be July 1,1971. 20 The existing classifications shall be abolished as follows: Draftsman- Engineering Aide, Fireman-Engineer, and Utility Man. 3. All other existing classifications as presented in said plan shall be adopted as amended. 40 New classifications shall be adopted as follows: Engineering Technician, Fireman, Fire Engineer, Junior Civil Engineer, Junior Clerk Typist, Senior Clerk Typist, Utility Man I, and Utility Man II. 5. The present salary range shall be applied to the new classifications and other affected classifications as follows: -1- /j-~ V a. Engineering Technician-- Increase one (1) range (5%) above the exist- ting range for Draftsman-Engineering Aide. b. Fireman - Same as existing Fireman-Engineer. c. Fire Engineer - Increase one (1) range (5%) above Fireman. d. Junior Civil Engineer - To be established at the present salary Range 32.5. e. Junior Clerk Typist - To be established at two (2) ranges (10%) below the present clerk typist range. f. Senior Clerk Typist - To be established at two (2) ranges (10%) above the present clerk typist range. g. Utility Man - To be established at two (2) ranges 00%) below the present utility man range. h. Utility Man II - Same as existing utility man. i. Senior Utility Man - Increase one-half (t) range (2-f1o).
