RESOLUTION NO. 1370
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF GILROY ALLOCATING THE VARIOUS
EMPLOYEE CLASSIFICATIONS IN THE CITY SERVICE TO APPROPRIATE
RANGES AND CERTAIN OTHER FRINGE BENEFITS.
WHEREAS, it has been determined by meeting and conferring in good faith
with the various employee groups and the Council-appointed conferring team and
the Personnel Commission's review, that the prevailing wage rates for public and
private employment in the area have risen; and
WHEREAS, it has also been determined that the City should continue to pay
100% of the employees' premium for medical, hospital, and life insurances, and
that the employees shall be given the opportunity to enroll in either the Califor-
nia-Western States Life Insurance Company Plan or the Kaiser Plan; and
WHEREAS, it was also determined that the Police Cadets, after one (1) year
of uninterrupted city service, shall be entitled to employee sick leave and vaca-
tion benefits; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Council to maintain city salaries on a
relatively competitive level with the salaries paid to public and private employees
in the area and that the desired mentioned benefits are justifiable.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the city employees shall be granted
the following benefits.
A. gffective July 1. 1969
1. Salary adjustments as listed on Schedule A which shall be attached
hereto and become a part of this Resolution.
2. The City shall continue to pay 100% of each employee's medical,
hospital, and life insurance and will allow the employees to select either
the California-Western States Plan or Kaiser Plan to provide health and
hospital insurance coverage. Said Kaiser Plan shall become available at
the Plan's earliest opening date provided to the City of Gilroy following
Ju 1 y 1, 1969.
3. After one (1) year's continuous service, the Police Cadets will
receive the above benefits.
B. Effective January 1, 1970.
1. Salary adjustments as listed on Schedule B which shall be attached
hereto and become a part of this Resolution.
