RESOLUTION NO. 1378
RESOLUTION IN MEMORY OF DRo ELMER J. CHESBRO
WHEREAS, with the passing of Dr. Elmer J. Chesbro on Friday,
August 1, 1969, Gilroy lost a prominent civic leader, humanitarian,
conservationist and friend; and
WHEREAS, Dro Chesbro served his and our community over the
majority of his years in many varied capacities, among which were
physician, planner, councilman and mayor; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Chesbro further served as a pioneer in County
wide water and land conservation projects; and
WHEREAS, the citizens of Gilroy, past, present and future
have and will continue to benefit from the foresighted initiative
of Dr. Elmer J. Chesbro; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Chesbro possessed the character and qualities
of an outstanding leader during any age or society; and
WHEREAS, we will all miss his counsel and guidance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Gilroy City Council,
representing all the people of Gilroy, does hereby honor the
memory of a dear friend and mourn his passing.
