RESOLUTION NO. 1383
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ~ILROY ENDORSING MEASURES A, B
AND C ON THE SANTA CLARA COUNTY SEPTEMBER 16, 1969 BOND ELECTION.
WHEREAS, the County Executive has documented a proposed 5-year
capital improvement program intended to meet public protection and parks
needs resulting from the continuing growth of Santa Clara County; and
WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of California has passed,
and the Governor has signed, legislation providing for the creation of the
Santa Clara County Transit District by a vote of the people of the County;
and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors has voted to submit three propo-
sitions to the electorate intended to create the Transit District and authorize
the issuance of general obligation bonds to finance the public protection and
parks needs of the County; and
WHEREAS, the public protection bonds will be financed out of sales
tax revenues, instead of property tax revenues, and the parks bonds will re-
quire property tax financing of approximately four cents per one hundred
dollars of assessed valuation; and
WHEREAS, the needs, building standards and financing program for
the three propositions have been carefully examined and found to be based
upon the best evidence available,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Gilroy City Council unan-
imously endorses Measures A, Band C on the September 16th ballot and urges
the citizens of this City and Santa Clara County to vote "YESII on these three
measures intended to meet the critical transit, public protection, and park
and recreation needs of the citizens of Santa Clara County.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 18th day of August, 1969, by the following
vote:
