RESOLUTION NO. 1417
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY
OF INTENTION TO IMPROVE THE EAST AND WEST SIDES
OF MONTEREY STREET BETWEEN THE CENTER LINE OF
FOURTH STREET EXTENDED AND THE CENTER LINE OF
SIXTH STREET, AND ONE-HALF BLOCK PORTIONS OF
INTERSECTING STREETS, UNDER THE TREE PLANTING
ACT OF 1931.
RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Gilroy does
hereby declare its intention to order the following work to
be done and improvements and assessments to be made under
the Tree Planting Act of 1931:
1. The Director of Parks and Recreation is hereby
designated as City Forester under the Tree Planting Act of
1931.
2. The improvement of the East and West sides of Monterey
Street between the center line of Fourth Street extended and
the center line of Sixth Street, and all intersecting streets
for a distance of one-half block from Monterey Street, by
planting either Australian Willow (Geijera paruiflora) or
Glossy Privet (Ligustrurn lucidurn) trees at thirty-foot
intervals along said streets as shown on plans filed by the
City Forester with the City Clerk.
3. The total cost of the project is $7,770.00, and the
frontage of all properties along Monterey Street between
the center line of Fourth Street extended and the center
line of Sixth Street, shall be assessed $3.60 per front foot
to pay for said improvements.
4. A public hearing shall be held before the City
Council on December 15, 1969, at 8:00 p.m. in the Council
Chambers at 10 South Rosanna Street, Gilroy, California, where
any interested persons may appear and give reason, if any,

why the proposed improvements should not be made and assessments
levied, and that notice of such hearing be given as required by
law.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 1st day of December, 1969, by the
following vote:

WENTWORTH and GOODRICH
