RESOLUTION NO. 1254
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY REQUESTING AND AUTHORI-
ZING THE COUNTY OF SANTA CLARA TO CONDUCT A FEASIBILITY STUDY FOR THE PRO-
POSAL OF THE CITY OF GILROY TO BE INCLUDED IN THE SANTA CLARA COUNTY FREE
LIBRARY SYSTEM.
WHEREAS, better library services need to be provided for
the Gilroy area, with more efficient use of tax monies; and
WHEREAS, duplication of library services should be avoided;
and,
WHEREAS, the construction of a new and adequate library
facility should be expedited; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Gilroy approves the
recommendation of the Gilroy Library and Culture Commission to formally
explore the feasibility of terminating library services by the City, and
the inclusion of the City of Gilroy into the Santa Clara County Library
for the continuance of a more efficient library service for the Gilroy
a rea;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Gilroy that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Santa Clara
are hereby respectfully requested and authorized to instruct their Staff
to conduct a feasibility study of the City of Gilroy Library being in-
cluded in the Santa Clara County Free Library System.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 15th day of April, 1968, by the
