RESOLUT ION NO. 1261
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF GILROY ALLOCATING THE VARIOUS EMPLOYEE
CLASSIFICATIONS IN THE CITY SERVICE TO APPROPRIATE RANGES AND ESTAB-
LISHING HOLIDAY PAY AND STAND-BY COMPENSATION FOR CERTAIN EMPLOYEES.
WHEREAS, the City Council and the Personnel Commission has, after careful
consideration, determined that the cost of living has increased and the prevailing
wage rates for public and private employment in the area have risen; and
WHEREAS, the various City employee associations have also recognized the
cost of living increase and did present their desires to the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the City Council does desire to maintain City employee salaries
on a relatively competitive level with salaries paid to public and private employ-
ees and to keep abreast with the cost of living in the area; and
WHEREAS, the City Council does desire to properly compensate Publ ic Safety
Personnel for holidays and Public Works Personnel for week end stand-by.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the several employee classifications
shall be applied to the appropriate ranges as listed on EXHIBIT A, which shall be
attached hereto and shall become a part of this Resolution. Said ranges shall be
the same as established in the Basic Pay Plan, as provided for in the Gilroy City
Code, Section 17.9 and Resolution No. 1008. Said salary adjustment shall become
effective with the July 1, 1968 payroll.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Public Safety Personnel may have the option
to receive Holiday pay at the rate of 3/4 of a dayJs salary, or straight compen-
sating time off. Said option shall become effective with the 1968-69 Fiscal Year.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Public Works Personnel may have the option to
receive week end stand-by at the rate of eight (8) hours per week end by receiving
compensation at their regular salary rate or straight compensating time off. Said
option shall become effective with the 1968-69 Fiscal Year.
