RESOLUTION NOe 1101
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF GILROY AUTHORIZING FILING OF APPLICATION FOR GRANT
TO ACQUIRE AND DEVELOP A PUBLIC LIBRARYe
WHEREAS the Library Services and Construction Act (P.L. 88-269)
provides for the making of grants to local public bodies to assist them in the
acquisition and development of public libraries where such assistance is
needed for carrying out a unified or officially coordinated program for the
provision and development of library services as part of the comprehensively
planned development of the local area; and
WHEREAS the City of Gilroy (herein sometimes referred to as
("Applicant") desires to acquire a site and develop a public library; and
WHEREAS it is recognized that the contract for Federal grant
will impose certain obligations and responsibilities upon the Applicant and
will require among other things a local bond election to provide applicant's
two-thirds share of the project funds; and
WHEREAS it is necessary to appoint a city official in order to
locally coordinate this proposed project;
NOW, THEREFORE" BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CIn COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GILROY:
I. That an application be filed for a grant under the Library
Services and Construction Act and that the City of Gilroy will plan a bond
election during the year 1968, or as Soon as reasonably practical following
that year, to provide the required city fund contribution under said Act.
2. That the City Administratoris hereby authorized and directed
to execute and to file such application with the State Librarian Office, to
provide additional information and to furnish such documents as may be required
by said Agency, to execute such contracts as are required by said Agency, and
to act as the authorized correspondent of the Applicant.

California, tthis 3rd day of April, 1967, by the following vote:
