RESOLUTION NO. 1135
RESOLUTION OF INTENTION OF CITY COUN6IL
OF TIE CITY OF GILROY TO CAUSE PROCEEDINGS
TO BE INSTITUTED, AND NOW INSTITUTING
SUCH PROCEEDINGS, FOR THE AMENDMENT OF
SEC. 53.2 OF THE BILROY CITY CODE TO
PROVIDE THAT THE EXPANSION OF EXISTING
CHURCH BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES SHALL
NOT INCLUDE A BUILDING OR STRUCTURE
THAT TAKES THE PrACE OF AND IS USED
INSTEAD OF AN EXISTING STRUCTURE OR
BUILDING.
BE IT RESOLVED By the Council of treCity of Gilroy
that it declares its intention to institute proceedings for
the amendment of Subdivision (a) of Sec. 53.2 of the
Gilroy City Code so that the provisions for parking space
requirements and criteria of churches shall read as follows:
Churches
Churches constructed after the adoption
of this regulation shall provide one (1)
parking space for each five (5) seats.
All church buildings and structures exist-
ing at the time of the adoption of
Zoning Ordinance and expansion of the same
are exempt from this regulation; provided,
however, that the word"expansio~'as herein
used shall not include the erection of a
new building in the place of an existing
one, and repealing all Ordinances of the
City of Gilroy in conflict with the
foregoing amendment.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That the said Council of the City
of Gilroy does hereby initiate on its own motion proceedings,
of which this Resolution is the beginning, for the adoption
of the said proposed amendment, and that this proposal be
referred to the Planning Commission of the City of Gilroy,
which shall take the steps required by the Zoning Ordinance
of the City of Gilroy relating to such amendments, and that a
certified copy of this Resolution be delivered to the Planning

PASSED AND ADOPTED This 17th day of July, 1967,
by the following vote:
