RESOLUTION NO. 1164
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROYt COUNTY OF SANTA CLARA
SUPPORTING THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF INTERIOR BUREAU OF LAND MANAGE-
MENT PROPOSED RULE RELATING TO GRAZING REGULATIONS FOR PUBLIC LANDS.
WHEREAS, the United States Department of Interior Bureau of Land
Management has given notice of a proposed rule making relating to the grazing
regulations that apply to public lands outside grazing districts; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of Santa Clara County have pre-
viously requested that the public domain lands in the County of Santa Clara
be retained and managed for outdoor and recreational purposes to preserve
the wildlife and wilderness character of said lands with the understanding
that said public lands in Santa Clara County be assembled and consolidated
into meaningful and useful units; and
WHEREAS, the United States Department of Interior Bureau of Land
Management has given notice of a proposed multiple use classification of
said lands in Santa Clara County that is consistent with the goals of the
County, and said multiple use classification will permit continued grazing
on these lands consistent with the management of said lands by the Bureau
of Land Management; and
WHEREAS, said proposed grazing regulations for public lands wil 1
be applicable to those public domain lands in Santa Clara County and are
not inconsistent with the goals of said County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Gilroy City Council,
County of Santa Clara, State of California, support the proposed grazing
regulations for publ ic lands insofar as they relate and pertain to the pub-
1 ic domain lands in the County of Santa Clara.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution shall be
sent to all affected State and Federal governmental agencies and legislators.
