RESOLUTION NO. 983
A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY REQUESTING THE STATE HIGHWAY
COMMISSION OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA TO TRANSFER CERTAIN ACCESS RIGHTS ON
STATE HIGHWAY ROUTE 101, WITHIN THE CITY OF GILROY.
WHEREAS, Mr. Will iam J. Boyle, of the City of Gilroy presently in-
tends to develop the property, as shown on Exhibit "A" attached hereto and by
this specific reference a part hereof, to a commercial use and;
WHEREAS, Mr. Boyle has offered to dedicate, at no cost, to the State
of California that portion of this property, shown on Exhibit "Nr, that is re-

qui red for the future right-of-way of the proposed re-routing of Route 101
(as per a Freeway Agreement between the State of California and the City of
Gilroy, dated September 8, 1964) through the City of Gilroy in exchange for
additional access openings, shown approximately in red on attached Exhibit
"A" and;
WHEREAS, when the proposed re-routing of Route 101 is complete the
existing Route 101 will revert to the City of Gilroy as a City street which is
currently well developed to commercial uses and;
WHEREAS, Mr. Boyle's planned development will represent a substantial
addition to Gilroy's business district, tax base and increased sales tax reven-
ues and is in accord with the City planning.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Gilroy
hereby goes on record that Mr. Boyle's request for additional business access
openings, as shown on attached Exhibit IJAII, in exchange for granting to the
State of Cal ifornia the required right-of-way across Mr. Boyle's property for
the proposed re-routing of Route 101, is in the best interests of the City of
Gilroy and further hereby respectfully requests the State Highway Commission to
proceed with all of the necessary actions required to complete this exchange.
