TO APPLY FOR A LIBRARY PLANNING GRANT TOGETHER HITH OTHER PUBLIC
AGENCIES IN SANTA CLARA, SAN MATEO AND SAN FRANCISCO COUNTIES.

WHEREAS: the 1963 legislature has adopted a program of
financial assistance to libraries, inoludiri~ piannin~ ~raht~ to
finance planning for better and more economical operation of lib-
raries looking towards improvement of service;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED~ that the Cbunctl df the city
of Gilroy does hereby express its wi'ltngriess to join with other
public agencies whioh operate libraries in this and neighboring

counties in applying to the State of California in accordance with
the provisions of this Public Library Services Act In Chapter 1.5
of Division 20 of the Education Code.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: that Santa Clara County act as
custodian of the planning grant as prescribed by Section 27139
paragraph (b) of the Act.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: that this request is made with the
understanding that participation in such a study in no way obligates
or even implies when, if ever, that this Council will join with any
other agency in forming a system in accordance with the terms of the
Act.
