RESOLUTION OF THE CrTY OF GILROY ENDORSING ASSEMBLY BlLL 2048 RELATING
TO ESTABL[SHiNG COUNTY H[GHWAYS W[TH[N crTTES AND REQUESTiNG THE STATE
LEGISLATURE AND THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA TO ENACT SAID
BILL INTO LAW
WHEREAS, the people of the County of Santa Clara, State of California,
have successfully elected, at a county-wide election held March 28, 1961,
to issue $70,000,000000 in bonds for the purpose of acquiring rights of
way and for the construction of a system of expressways and city streets
throughout the incorporated and unincorporated areas of the County of
Santa Clara; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to enact certain general laws of the
State of California to effectively acquire and construct said express-
ways and city streets in accordance with the expressed desires of the
people of the County of Santa Clara; and
WHEREAS, Assembly Bill 2048 has been introduced in the State
Legislature for the specific purpose of providing a state-wide procedure
for establ ishing a county highway within cities in those counties which
adopt a county highway bond issue after January 1, 1961;
NOW, THEREFORE~ BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Counci 1 of the City
of Gilroy does hereby favorably endorse for passage by the State Legis-
lature Assembly Bill 2048; and that the State Legislature and the Gove~
not of the State of California be, and hereby are, respectfully urged to
enact Assembly Bill 2048 into law.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk of this City Council be,
and hereby is, authorized and directed to send certified copies of this
resolution to: Honorable Governor Edmund G. Brown, Honorable John F.
Thompson, Senator, 18th Senatorial District, Honorable Bruce F. Allen,
Assemblyman, 29th Assembly District, HOnorable Clark L. Bradley, Assem-
blyman, 28th Assembly District.

Santa Clara, State of Cal ifornia, on May 1, 1961, by the following vote:
