RESOLUTION NO. 79 - 30
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY AUTHORIZING
FILING OF AN APPLICATION FOR A G~~T FROM THE Fk~R'S HO~m AD-
MINISTRATION FOR DOWNTOWN PARKING AND I~ROVEMENTS, FOR FISCAL
YEAR 1979-1980.
~~EREAS, the vitality of the Gilroy's economic base
depends on the accessibility and safety of its downtown area;
and
WHEREAS, the current amount of off-street parking is
inadequate for the downtown businesses; and
WHEREAS, the addition of energy-saving street lights
and crosswalk improvements would further improve the viability
of the downtown shopping area; and
~mEREAS, the City of Gilroy is eligible to apply for
a grant for development of such improvement from the Farmer's
Home Administration.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Gilroy that the Director of Planning is authorized
to execute and file an application for a grant from the Farmer's
Home Administration for the acquisition and construction of off-
street parking lots, and addition of modern street lighting and
crosswalk improvements specified herein,
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 16th day of April, 1979, by
the following vote:
